Did you know that 32 million adults in the U.S. can't read?
That’s 14 percent of the population. The sad statistics may be real, but so is our dedication to supporting literacy programs like Literacy Services of Wisconsin (LSW). That’s why we’re implementing a literacy program of our own, Book Now. The process is simple: Our guests are welcome — and encouraged — to leave hardcover books in their room or in our Library upon departure, and we’ll donate those books to LSW. Trashy romance novels, classic literature, Hollywood tell-alls, NY Times best-sellers —and everything in between — are all welcome. Book Now kicks off Thursday, May 22, with a happy hour soiree sponsored by FUEL Milwaukee and LSW — and you’re invited. The event is free and open to the public, and guests who donate a hardcover book during the event will receive a complimentary specialty cocktail. Luckily, there are no laws against drinking and reading.
